Poor Imitation
Hope is the fuel of dreams
so langourous, covetous arms cradle a pillow
so tenderly to evoke you
this lesson I have learnt:
pillows make poor surrogates for the warmth of the human body
feather and down are poor imitations
of tremulous skin and bones
but they aid my dreaming; even such a poor proxy for you.
